I have recently purchased a tom tom one and so far its been superb. recently whilst out the screen froze for ages. I tried turning it off and off, hit the re-set button etc without much joy. Eventually it corrected itself. I am still getting voice direction but no mapping, this happened again on a recent trip into the centre of london, Any help please |

I have a tom tom one and this has never (so far, touch wood)happened to me.The only things that I can suggest are:If you did a back up then try restoring your tom tom, or if you purchased it very recently, return it to the shop.Sorry I cant be any more helpfull than that but I am relatively new to sat-navs and can only give my limited thoughts. There are geniuses with sat-navs on this site who will probably have a better answer for you.I hope you get it sorted. |

What do you see on the screen?
Have you added anything, POI's etc., to the Unit?
Have you done a Full Backup?
How much Unused Space is there on the SD Card?
This is information that could help us to help you.;) _________________ Richard

Hi people and thanks so far, To answer your questions, The only thing i have added is the speed camera database and used the idiots guide on here to help me install it. I have also completely removed the card and re-installed it to make sure. What i got on screen was the thick blue line at the bottom of the screen showing the countdown to junc's etc and the top half was showing me all the options etc ie POI, Add POI. It would also show me mapping route options etc but as stated it suddenly stopped showing me the road layouts |

the voice direction continued to work, the blue box at the bottom showing distance to next junction etc worked. It was the top half of the screen, the bit that shows the road as you drive which stopped working. All i could get was all the option boxes etc, ie change voice, add POI's showing screen changesetc etc ! |

Can you check the amount of Free Memory you have on the SD Card? Ideally there needs to be at least 2MB.
I can't think that there is a serious fault with the SD Card because you still get Voice Directions.
The Screen it self doesn't appear to be faulty as you still have a Display, of sorts, and it responds to tapping and going through the Menus.
Do the Voice Directions carry on for several minutes after the freeze? The only thing that springs to mind is that the GPS Fix is lost. The Map Screen would then go into Shades of Grey, rather than the coloured Screen. _________________ Richard

i still get the voice directions for quite some time, following the screen freeze. It's just the road as you go along that stops working, as i say all other functions seem to work |
