But this does not change the fact that most people on average go 100/110 on the motorway.

Jo, which country are you in? Please update your profile. Thumbs Up
What units are you using, kilometres or miles?
Which road specifically are you talking about?

Regards,

It was me Jo was talking about doing 170 mph. What I said was that I do 170mph every day, and I don't die. Therefore speed doesn't kill, but inappropriate speed for the conditions does.

I made the point that an angry driver going slowly is more dangerous than a considered driver doing 71.

Jo responded with a violent threat: I wont say what I would do to someone like you if I ever got my hands on you. Let’s just say one of us would get very hurt.

One thing that can make us all relax though. Jo will never get caught for speeding, he hasn't got a driving licence!

BTW, I do 170 on the ground, and 500 in the air!

Why say 70mph then if it’s ok with the law to do 80mph? I don’t understand. so someone is right up your a** doing 80mph and you have to break very sharp because someone has just pulled out in front of you, what do you think is going to happen to the car that was so close up my back end.

You display a staggering ignorance of driving and the factors that contribute to road accidents. I would strongly urge you to undertake some form of advanced driver training such as IAM, RoSPA or GEM and you will have a better understanding of speed and how correct application can increase safety.

Yes I don’t drive that’s right and it’s nothing to do with me being ban or anything like that. I should have my full license within the next 4 weeks. But I am in the car everyday with my partner and my kids. It makes no difference if I drive or not, we got people over taking us doing 110mph why? And other people right up our a** even when we are doing 70 which is the MAX you can go on any UK road. I’ll tell you something when I am driving I will be one of the most sensible drivers on the road that will Not be doing more then 70 ever.

Jo,

Serious question here:

You go to Germany and are on an Autobahn with no speed limit.

What speed will you drive at?

I have taken my theory test and my observation test and a hazard perception training course and a few others to help me with the most advance training I can get, and I have passed them all. Simple as this what is the max speed you can go on any UK road? Tell me please?

Im sorry I cant comment on speeds in other countrys, I only know about the uk law. but if you are asking how fast I would go on a road that has no speed limit, then that would depend on the road, if there were houses around, what kind of road, and things like that but one thing I can say for sure I still would never go over 70mph.

Jo,

I don't wish to perpetuate this discussion much further as it seems pointless to me, but I just want to point something out.

You are preaching to everyone on this forum as if you are the world's safest driver, and yet you have not even got your license yet so you have obviously not had much experience of driving at all.

Yes, you may well have passed the paperwork (theory test, observation and hazard test, etc.) but do you think this makes you a good driver? No, it doesn't. It gives you the potential to be a safer driver than people who have not taken these tests, but only when you have gained the appropriate practical experience.

Unfortunately you give me (and probably most readers of this thread) the impression that you will not be the safe driver you make yourself out to be due to your ignorance and arrogance. Arrogance on the road is dangerous. A good driver is someone who doesn't think that they are a good driver.

I can guarantee that as soon as you start driving, you will change your opinion of the speed limits in this country, and I speak from personal experience here as a relatively new driver (I passed my practical test 2 years ago.)

Regards,

Bo Peep.

Well, they're like motorways - so no houses. Why 70? If the UK law changes to 80, would you say "never above 80 on the autobahn" or would you stick to 70?

And how fast will you drive on the French motorways? 70? Or would you dare go a bit faster and stay within their legal limit (81), or would you stick to your arbitary 70? You'd be legal, and safe, at 81 - doing 70 might just encourage people to tailgate you.

Do you see what I'm getting at?

Yes, but you haven't driven solo yet have you? Rolling Eyes

It takes time and many miles of solo driving to become an experienced driver.
