any one know of how to transfer AutoRoute Push pins into Excel so that I can edit the data and then convert it into a poi file...
I can do the AutoRoute / poi bit...
But there is so much that I need to edit in the AR push pin file it would be easier in Excel...

Oldie has written a POIconverter tool that can do this for you.

Agreed, the excellent POI converter is the way to go. Simply create a route via your pushpins, save it, and run it throught the program. It extracts the pushpins and creates a POI file for you. No need for Excel or anything else. Highly recommended! :D
One small word of warning, if you install the program anywhere else other than the recommended location, you must not have spaces in the path, otherwise it won't work. |

Or, if you want to edit the data, you can save it in .csv or .xls format and open it in Excel. When you've finished editing it, you can convert it to a .ov2 POI file.

I have created pushpins in AR -- no route - just pushpins --- put hem as red dots --
How can I get these puspins OUT of AR into Excel...
then edit them - in Excel...
once in Excel I can then convert into *.cvs format...
Its the first bit I want help with.. getting them out od AR..

Seemingly we need the updated version of POIConverter because that pushpin file is cluttered with too much info. (for balloons??) which the present version can't handle.

In case you haven't found the answer in another thread, you need to save your Autoroute map - complete with pushpins - as a .axe file.
[Some earlier versions of Autoroute don't use .axe files - but I think that these can export pushpins as a .csv file - achieving the same thing. Look in Help if all else fails!]
Then use POIConverter. This can read the .axe file and extract the co-ordinates and description of each point. Then save it as a .csv or .xls file - which you can open in Excel, and edit to your heart's content!
When you're happy with it, save it as a .csv, open it again in POIConverter, and save it as a .ov2 POI file. Bingo!

Just to complete the story so that others can follow the thread. Rather than send you a beta release of POIConverter v3.10 I processed the AutoRoute file myself and emailed the extracted/converted files to you. I am glad that you like the result.
I have used the site name, with Camp/Camping removed, which keeps the majority of the POI names less than 32 characters. TTN3 displays these in Map mode without a problem.
POIConverter v3.10 is still in the pipeline. Must get back to the speed camera updates now :D

Many thanks Oldie; a great service for all those interested in French Campsites, and thanks go to John Harrison (jollyinteresting), for compiling it in the first place.
In very broken French, I've posted on the gpsPassion forum, and even the Frenchies did not have a decent POI list for Campsites. Thinking I'll post something along the lines of "Ha Ha, mes amis, it takes some Englishmen to give you your French Campsite POI's!!!" but I'll get the French checked first, . . . . . and maybe a tin hat!

All right 'clever clogs' :P, but I don't know the French equivalent, or even if they have one! Probably use Latin, but call it old French!!

BTW, are you the same 'Doc' who was extolling the virtues of TTG in uk.rec.caravanning a little while ago? If so, it was largely because of your posts (I post there as 'Hitch Lock') that I became interested in the device and eventually bought one.

I don't post so much on uk.rec now, because of the idiot 'trolls' who infect the forum. I post here http://www.touringandtenting.com/index.html as Doc again, and there are some nice folks there (e.g. David Klyne from uk.rec), although it has had it's own, odd, moment with 'idiots'.
