|
|
Please go easy on me - first time using this forum
Tried the search facility but didn't find anything to help.
Basically, I can't install TomTom 3 onto my PDA.
I bought an iPAQ 4150 / TomTom 3 Nav BT from duty free last week. Downloaded ActveSync 3.8 from Microsoft and managed to sync my Outlook with the PDA.
When I tried to install TomTom (under a guest partnership) I put the CD into my Dell laptop (running XP) and it looked to be going OK until it got to the Setup screen - where the files go from one folder to the other - it would just hang at this screen.
I have phoned the support and they send me a Setup file 'Setup 4.4.3' - I clicked this but nothing has progressed.
I am a novice to the whole PDA thing. Do I need to do anything different? Do I need to locate the CD via ActiveSync or something?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

which version of activesync are you useing some versions are buggier than others if its maps your trying to install then try using a storage card
another option is to put the cab files straight on to the ppc via activesync there should be an article on how to do it there to _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. Good bye IOS don't let the door hit you on the way out .
Oh the joys of being a courier.

Alix - thanks for replying
I have ActiveSync 3.8.0 build 5004
I am going to have to learn how to use the PPC real quick as I have no idea how to move files via ActiveSync.
Cheers

If you've been sent a setup.exe, you'll need to copy the program CD onto your hard disk, delete setup.exe and replace it with the one you've been sent, then click setup.exe in the hard disk copy of the CD.
Do things work then?
You may find it better if you create a 'real' partnership rather than a guest one. If you haven't got Outlook installed, or don't want to synchronise your Outlook data, just synchronise Favorites.

Didn't work - anything else you recommend?
