2005 Streets & Trips

I am a newbie to GPS world.

I do not want to spend too much on maps and software as a starter. I have the following questions:

1) if the 2005 Pocket Street Maps can be consolidated to one larger map?
2) is 4 or 5MB the limit of a largest map available from 2005 Streets & Trips? Can it be done with a larger map? I am planning to buy a 1GB SD card to hold the map load to my laptop with 2005 Streets & Trips, if possible, so that I don't have to swap between maps every 50kms (30 miles) of driving.

Why don't you use your laptop instead?
