Hi,
Bought a 2210 and Royaltek BT3000 last summer, had nothing but problems with it freezing or losing the bluetooth connection so it has sat in my draw at home for 3-4 months while I went back to paper maps.
I'm sitting here tonight thinking that was another£450 wasted but can anyone advise if I bought a hard wire GPS receiver/CF receiver would I get better reliability, if so any recommendations.
Thanks Mark.

Hi Mark,

I think that you’ve been unfortunate. I’ve had a Fortuna Clip-On BT GPS receiver for just under a year and have had no problems with the 3970 set-up. In fact I liked the Clip-On so much I bought a second one for my 2210.

If you don’t want to retry the BT route (no pun intended) then I’d go for the wired GPS receiver over the CF one. Mainly because you are able to position the wired one better. You can also use the CF slot for storage if you use a wired GPS receiver.

Regards,

Thanks for the quick reply, I only used the Royaltek so I could track my vehicle but I'm quite happy to carry on using the Royaltek as a stand alone recorder and then go the hard wire route.
I currently have Navman because I can playback through the software but have seen TT3 with the POI's, damn impressive, does anyone know if you can get TT3 with a receiver as a package.
Thanks again.

Lots of different opiions but I gave up on bluetooth GPS, not easy or reliable to connect. I use a wired one and apart from hradware problem unit replaced that is simple it comes on with the power. Obviously if you want to walk about with one then BT is needed or SD or CF card

I have no problems at all with my Holux CR-100. I must say I am very pleased it was what i chose to go with my ipaq 2110.

I have always had a good sat lock and it's great running the PDA and GPS from just the one power cable and the speakers are plenty loud enough for me to hear voice commands even when CDs/radio are playing.

It's not sold as a package with TomTom but their is a good seller on eBay where I got mine for about £90.
