I've only had my SmartST V3 SW for a few days, but have some concerns about the stability of my system already. Not sure, however, if it's caused by SmartST itself or my iPAQ/GPS. I tend to lose the GPS fix very easily and in many of the cases the BT connection itself seems to be the source of the problem. I'm using the same GPS receiver as before, i.e a Navman GPS4410, and the same PDA. Has anyone else had these kinds of problems? I'll try to borrow a wired GPS receiver from a friend to see if the stability of the system improves. If that's the case I have to conclude that SmartST V3 works badly together with BT GPS receivers or at least the GPS4410.

It should be noted that the stability of my system was much better (well, you had to do a soft reset of the iPAQ once in a while, but still...) when I was using SmartST V2.

Apart from these stability issues (which are serious enough) I must say that I'm impressed by the features of SmartST V3 compared to V2.

/Ulf

PS: Is there anyone out there who's bought the GPS4420 from Navman? Is it working OK? From my understanding the HW in GPS4420 is identical to 4410, am I right?

You are right! The 4410 and 4420 packages both use the Bluetooth 4100 receiver.

My setup is exactly the same as yours. (see sig) I dont have any issues with the BT connection at all and the software is pretty much as stable as it can be.

As your only difference from before is the software I would try a clean reinstall of SmartST again and see if that makes a difference.

That might be worth a shot. Did you manage to install the application on your SD card or did you end up with an installation in main memory as I did? From what I recall from the installation there was no way of telling the desktop installation program where to install the program.

I installed to main memory as it is more stable and I use compact flash for the maps. Much more reliable this way.

I wouldn't install to your SD card as SD on the 2210 can be troublesome especially if you have a less than perfect SD card.
