Hi All,

I'm probably being thick here, but how can you add various levels of warnings to the new format GPSWorld Safety Camera databases (i.e. specific warnings for different speeds?)

In the older version, while it was a pain in the RRse to set up, at least you could set different warnings for different situations (e.g. I had TTN3/CheckPOInt 3.02 SHOUT at me when I approached a 30mph area, as these are the most "dangerous" in my part of the world!) and shout even louder if I was over the speed limit in a 40mph zone.

Any advice/comments please?

Hi sabilton,

The PocketGPSWorld camera database never has been split into different speed limits. Are you thinking of POIplace, where you have to pay a subscription to download some of the POIs (e.g. speed cameras)?

We ask that everybody who uses our PocketGPSWorld camera databases, send us information about new/moved/removed cameras and their speed limits. Some cameras already have their speed limit recorded, this is indicated by @30, @40, @50, etc suffixing the camera id.

When the majority of the cameras have a recorded speed limit we will then look at splitting the database into smaller ones grouped by speed limit. You’ll then be able to allocate a different warning to each database. Thumbs Up

Regards,

Have already done that for the latest pocketgps_uk_gatso.ov2 file by removing all the cameras with speed limits into thier own ov2 files. Been using them in TT for a week now without any problems.
The files I have are:-
pocketgps_uk_gatso.ov2 This is all the cameras without limits.
pocketgps_uk_gatso.bmp

These are the speed limit files extracted from the above.
pocketgps_uk_gatso_20.ov2 and .bmp plus wav file
pocketgps_uk_gatso_30.ov2 and .bmp plus wav file
pocketgps_uk_gatso_40.ov2 and .bmp plus wav file
pocketgps_uk_gatso_50.ov2 and .bmp plus wav file
pocketgps_uk_gatso_60.ov2 and .bmp plus wav file
pocketgps_uk_gatso_70.ov2 and .bmp plus wav file.

will be doing the same to the pocketgps_uk_mobile one as well.
If you want them can archive them up and upload them to the site.

ye that sounds a good idea, would like it on my tomtom-mobile like that

my thoughts was

camera`s with no speed limits added can use the standard camera icon

then all the different speed catagories could have a icon showing the speed limit instead of a camera when approaching

Thanks guys, you are right, I have previously used the POIPlace stuff - told you I was being thick Laughing Laughing

If the work can be done to split the camera database by speed limits that would be great - as I mentioned previously, it was a real Godsend to have my TTN3 shout at me when in the "tricky" zones at 30 and 40 mph.

Look forward to seeing developments,

rgds

Hi sabilton,

In what part of the country are you based? Could you also please update your profile so we know the approximate area you’re located? Thumbs Up

We now have a lot of people using our camera database, if everybody can report locations of cameras, as they encounter them, that are new/moved/removed with the appropriate speed limit for the road then we would soon have an up-to-date database. Once the vast majority of cameras in the database have their speed limit recorded we will certainly look at issuing the database in speed related parts.

Camera details should be reported to Richard (Oldie) at:
