I recently bought a leadtek 9537 bluetooth GPS (seemed like a good idea at the time) for use with a toshiba e800 with intergrated blue tooth. The Toshiba can find & establish a connection fine (constant blue light, flashing green light.) but fails to recieve any data from the GPS. I have tried the unit with several software packages, updated the bluetooth stack, tried GPS Gate even tried to use the unit with a laptop & PC all with the same results. Is this likely to be a problem with the GPS or is there something else I can try? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes I can find the leadek bluetooth GPS in bluetooth settings & connect to the serial port on Com6. I have checked the connection after starting winfast navigator & it says that GPS-output is connected to serial port on com6.
I can send a photo of the connection if that helps.

Maybe the unit is set to output SiRF protocol. Can you try a factory reset to get it back to NMEA ?

Just retried the factory restart in NMEA & still cant get anything in winfast navigator on com6,
But if i switch to navigatorPDA (Navigation software from Osprey for Australia) I get 8 to 10 Sats but no fix.
Lon & lat stay 0.000 no matter what settings i change.
If I can get data in one program why not the other with the same settings & why no fix??
Am I still missing something?

You are not trying to run both programs at the same time, are you? That wouldn't work.

It sounds like maybe some of the NMEA sequences are missing (particularly RMC). Try setting the NMEA sequence mix to their default.

RMC 1
GSA 1
GGA 1
GSV 5

Thanks, I have switched to the Emtac Crux II GPS View & can now get a 3d fix from 9 sats consistently from inside or outside, however In Navigator PDA I can only see the sats but not get a fix & winfast navigator still refuses to see anything! All three programs are using the same settings eg, com6 4800 baud NMEA
Rmc 1
Gsa 1
Gga 1
Gsv 5
So now I know this thing is working but it seems to be very selective with the software it communicates with. Any idea why a leadtek product wont talk to a leadtek software?
does this say something about Leadtek??
Also Leadtek customer service & support seems to be non existent, several emails, No reply.
Maybe it is time to put up a review of this product, as most people seem to have a problem with the units, to prevent more people being suckered by a substandard GPS.
Think i might give the Sysonchip CF a try at least they seem to fix any problems with their product instead of ignoring them!

I noticed that sometimes the WinFast Navigator has trouble keeping up with the data stream. Which is ironic when you use it with Leadtek products ;-)

Have you tried the receiver with any real navigation software?

now I know I don't use a bluetooth GPS unit but I have got a Leadtek 9539c. This is the cradle and gps unit built in.

It came with Winfast software which I installed first. But decided to remove the navigator and just use tom tom navigator gps software on its own and now all works fine.

Just an idea

Oh, I also found out from leadtek that it uses baud rate 57600. But if I set this it won't work so I have had to set the software for SIRF 4800 or NMEA 0183v2 4800.

Very strange.
