Hi,

Since I'm about to buy the SmartST V3 SW I'm intending to sell the V2 SW to a friend. What's the procedure for deregistering the SW on my PPC and reregistering it on another one?
Do I start by uninstalling the SW on my PDA or what's the first step? I presume there's a license file on my PPC that was downloaded at the time of the product registeration and that this file needs to be removed before I can register the SW on my friend's PPC.

Any help on this matter would be much appreciated!

Cheers,
Ulf

I think the easiest way would be to send an email to support@navman-europe.com and see if they can help you. I have a feeling you'll need them to deregister your software/hardware combination on their server.

I got a response from Navman:

Thanks for the mail. Please run the application again and that will override the old version.

I will have a go with this when I receive my new SW next week. It's not clear to me how this method can affect my current SmartST installation but I guess I will found that out once I start fiddling with it.

Uffe, How did you get on with the de registering of the Navman software? Did re installing it work? I am considering buying Navman 4470 (maps only) for a three month motoring holiday in Europe. At the end of this period I will be returning to Australia and no longer have any use for the maps. So it would be of great benefit to me to be able to resell the maps to someone else and recoup some of the considerable outlay.
I am trying to get my mind around how their registration security works. It appears as though the software can only be loaded on one PC at a time, which seems reasonable. Multiple installations of the same serial number will be flagged by the Navman registration server and prevent registration. Or perhaps the most recent installation overrides the previous one and will register. Either way the main thing I would like to know is that as long as an individual has the original disks and whatever Region Activation Codes went with them they will be able to use the software - right?

It was all very simple. I uninstalled SmartST V2 from my desktop and PDA. I then installed it on my friends laptop and his PDA, and in this process he had to register it. It all worked fine so I assume that Navman have accepted that my friend is the new owner of the package.

The strange thing is that my license for SmartST V2 still seems to be in Navman's database. When I installed SmartST V3 and went through the registration process, I could read that I was still registered. I would have assumed that my entry was automatically removed from the database when the SW was installed on my friends PDA. Well, as long as the SW is working fine for my friend I'm happy.

Good luck

Excellent, Just what I wanted to hear. The fact that it will allow me to do this makes it a much more viable option for me,
Thanks Ulf Not Worthy
