I'm not sure if this is down to TeleAtlas, or if it's just peculiar to the maps installed on my ICN610. There are quite a few streets in the town centre of Peterborough which are greyed out. These are vehicular streets, and not pedestrian - an example of which is Bright Street, which runs from Bourges Boulevard to Lincoln Road - (52 Deg 34min 35.6sec North/ 0 Deg 14min 56.2Sec West) to a point (52Deg 34min 36.1Sec North/0Deg 14Min 38.8Sec West). If I click on the road, then it highlights in white.

The same applies for other roads in the area. My assumption is that this is down to the road being marked as pedestrian only. If this is a correct assumption, it's wrong, as Bright Street is a main thoroughfare.

Does TomTom have the same problem? If so that is a TeleAtlas issue, otherwise the monkey sits on Navman's shoulder.

Don;t know about TomTom - anyone have any idea why the road is greyed out, but highlights when you click on it?

Is it a mapping fault (road is classed as pedestrianised - when it's not) or do I need to re-install maps or something?

Hi Andy,

I have TomTom Navigator 3, I’ve had a look at Bright Street, which is shown as a “not allowed to enter”. Some more examples (in Peterborough) are:

Arrow Broadway (partially)
Arrow Craig Street (partially)
Arrow Cromwell Road
Arrow Deacon Street
Arrow Gladstone Street
Arrow Link Road
Arrow Lincoln Road
Arrow North Street
Arrow Park Road (Partially)
Arrow Russell Street
Arrow Westgate

There are additional roads to the ones listed. I don’t know Peterborough – so I don’t know if any should be closed.

It does point to a Tele Atlas problem.

Regards,

Broadway Arrow partially pedestrianised with its junction from Westgate
Craig Street Arrow should be open (although 20mph status)
Cromwell Rd Arrow should be accessible to vehicles
Deacon St Arrow vehicular link road from shopping centre to inner ring road
Gladstone Street Arrow should be accessible to vehicles
Lincoln Rd Arrow (Ok to be pedantic "Boroughbury" - the section from Westgate to Bright Street) accessible to vehicles
North Street Arrow (Hope its accessible as I drove up there tonight!)
Park Road Arrow Restricted access from Westgate to Fitzwilliam Street
Westgate Arrow allegedly restricted access, but not sure if other drivers realise that...

Seems like TeleAtlas have missed off most of Peterborough centre then - I'm sure the council will be terribly pleased!

The other thing I've noticed - it insists on directing me up Fitzwilliam Street from Broadway to Park Road, although this road is closed midway by bollards...

Thanks for the info Privateer - obviously down to a TeleAtlas problem then, I have added to their list of queries (W012rzl94)
