Hi

I have just bought Co Pilot Live 5 USB and planned to use it with my HP iPAQ h2210 PDA. I have been told that the battery life isn't good enough on my PDA to use it walking or cycling.

Does anyone use this PDA with CoPilot Live 5 and can you tell me if I need to upgrade my PDA?

Thanks

You bought the USB version? That's of no use with the iPAQ.

The 2210 is good enough for usage in the car and outdoors. it has a replaceable battery (as far as I can recall) and you can also use the standard battery extenders to increase the run time.

Hi

I haven't opened the box on CoPilot, which may be just as well as I've obviously bought the wrong one! I thought the USB version was the right one to buy.

Which CoPilot should i have bought to enable me to use it walking and cycling?

Thanks for the reasurance about battery life.

Thanks

I have an iPAQ 2210 and the version of CoPilot I use is marked Pocket PC5 on the box
You will also need a GPS receiver, either wired (which is more reliable) or Bluetooth. Also a car mount for the PDA
The battery lifetime of the 2210, if used away from the car, is rather limited. You can buy auxiliary battery packs for the 2210, but as it is at the end of its production run, they may be a little difficult to come by.
I have found the 2210 excellent for GPS navigation, particularly as it has slots for SD and CF storage cards. That may be less important than when I bought it, as very large storage cards are now coming down in price

Thanks for the info. It sounds like it might be worth buying a PDA with more battery life. And a GPS with bluetooth connection.

Correct. But as I said before the 2210 is a pretty good machine, and you can easily extend it's battery life with a four-pack of AA batteries - those battery extender cases are very cheap. I use the same setup on my bicycle with a 3630 very successfully

Hi

Although I've never heard of it, the battery extender pack sounds like a good idea. Would I need to buy it from Hewlett Packard or any PDA supplier?

You can get it from eBay - it really is just a plastiic casing that can house 4 AA batteries, and has the right connector for your PDA. The luxury version has an On/Off switch and a LED
