Tim,

I have a reponse about file formats from Navman in Aus. Basically I can have the format and structure free but not their dev program which does the conversion.

On a test basis I have asked if they could convert my map files (in Arc format) to their format to enable me to test the theory.

I am submitting two ARC sets, the Leeds/Liverpool and the river Cam navigation.

If it works will negotiate to produce a full set of UK Canals, and Navigable rivers.

As as sad landrover owner, the local club and I will also map 'Green lane routes' in detail. (For North Yorkshire ONLY)

This will take a while, as I need to design symbols for locks, gates, bridges, Winding Holes Mooring sites etc. It probably means will have developed green lane maps first.

For interest the Crown Coyright on the Navman maps refers to Dutch Crown Rights not HMG.

Incidently 'Avoid areas' where/what file are these stored?, I want to meddle. I have been correcting York and Selby, I know others have been correcting their local areas, could we combine these?, as per Gatsos or other POI's?

What do you think?

regards

David L

Boy, you have been busy. I don't have an iCN510, but haven't found the file my PPC keeps them (avoid areas) in - yet! I only added two yesterday so it should have yesterday's datestamp on it.

Green lane routes sound promising.

Having those on the SmartST maps may lack the detail that OS mapping offers but should prove useful.
