Hi

I just bought myself the Holux GR-231 GPS receiver (my first foray into GPS...). I can connect it to my hp 1940 via BT no problems, but gettting a fix indoors is proving difficult.

If I shove it outside the window and do a cold start I can about 8/9 satillites, but they show up as red.

Is Xtrac (would it help me to get a fix indoors?) automatically enabled on this device? The documentation that comes with it is very sparse...

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Z

The GR-231 is an Xtrac v2 GPS, you can't turn it on/off.

I have a Syson CF plus 2 (Xtrac v2 also) and though it is very sensitive outside and even in dense forest I never get a fix inside my house, not even nearby a window!

Some reviews of Xtrac-devices report fixes inside buildings and garages but I never experienced it myself with my Syson. Question

Thanks for the info. I took the GPS outside this morning, and it got a fix quite quickly :-), so I now know at least it works properly.

I live in Hong Kong and as soon as I walked between some tall buildings I lost the fix :-(.
