Is it my imagination, or is it much easier to get a sat fix in France? Was over there recently and never really had a problem - get back to Dover and it takes forever!!

Your imagination, unless you were standing in the middle of an open field in France, and right besides some tall buildings in the Dover.

Different cars or the same vehicle? Assuming you were standing in the open then there is no reason aside from local obstructions that would affect this.

Hi,

Always takes a while to get a fix when you get back to Dover.

My assumption is because you have had your GPS receiver turned off for a couple of hours while on the ferry and then shifted position by 30 miles or so. Also- it will only be marginal but general atmospheric conditions are usually better over France - not so many horrible thick dark clouds as good old blighty.
