I've got a Dell Axim X30 and a Fortuna ClipOn Bluetooth GPS receiver. I had it all set up and working with TomTom3, but then the Axim decided to discharge both the main battery and the backup battery at the same time, losing all my programs and settings. I have reinstalled everything, but I can't get it to work so any assistance would be appreciated please.
According to the lights on the GPS receiver, it picks up satellite reception, and I don't have a problem connecting to the receiver using the Bluetooth manager. However, regardless of the settings chosen in the TomTom GPS program, no info is transferred to the Axim. I've tried using both NMEA 0183v2 38400(which I think I set it up with last time) and SiRF 38400 and both the Bluetooth Serial Port on COM7: and COM8:.
Any suggestions on how to get it to work again would be appreciated! (I have read the 'Step-by step guide: Fortuna clip-on to an Axim X30' in another thread, but unfortunately to no avail). |

I'm afraid I can't help with the particular problem mentioned, as I have neither item of hardware.
However, it's worth mentioning Sprite Backup. This has saved me many times in a sticky situation, and isn't expensive for what it is. It's no accident that HP build a version of Sprite Backup into many of their devices as iPAQ Backup.
It would certainly have allowed you to restore your machine after the flat battery scenario.

I left the battery out of the GPS receiver for a day and it now works again. |
