Mains charger for GPS?

Hi, first I want to say thank you for all the help this site has provided and for steering me towards the free SDA+Copilot from Fonehouse at Bluewater.

What I would like to know is what mains charger can I use to charge the CoPilot BT GPS? As it only comes with a cigarette charger for the car. Also is it possible to change the battery if the need arises?

I looked to edit the original post and could not see the edit function.

I also wondered if the battery goes flat on the smartphone does it lose all it's settings like the iPAQ? as it does not have a backup programme I am a bit concerned.

You can use any PDA charger that uses the 5vdc 2amps. A HP/Compaq iPAQ charger will suffice.

Not sure about the SDA but I believe it will wipe the memory, although I don't have one to test it.

The SDA stores its settings in non-volatile memory so a flat battery will not result in lost data.

As for the charger, the easiest thing is to buy a 240v cigarette lighter adapter, these plug into the wall socket and have a cigarette lighter socket into which you can plug the cigarette lighter lead.

The CoPilot BT GPS does not have a user replaceable battery.

Hi again,
Hope you dont mind one more question?

I setup my iPAQ 2210 & TT3 with the CoPilot BT GPS following instructions from this site, everything works OK untill I start driving and the map screen freezes.

I have the maps on a "VIKING INTERWORKS SD 256MB JAPAN" is this the problem? and would getting a compactflash card cure this?

If a compactflash card is the solution can you recommend any.

SD is the problem, replace this with CF for map storage and you'll be sorted.

Any CF card will be fine, make and speed are much less of an issue with CF.
