Checkpoint 3.2 with TomTom HP Navigation pack

Hi there,

I have recently installed the PocketGPS Saftey Camera database for the cameras to appear as POIs in my recently purchased HP TomTom navigator.
The map now has the speed cameras showing and it appears to be fine.

I would also like the functionality to show the speed of the road/camera and play a relevant warning upon approach etc.
I researched on this site and proceeded to download and install CheckPoint 3.2 on my Ipaq.
It worked fine, apart from the fact Checkpoint is not picking up ANY overlays or POIs from the TomTom directory/database, thus no settings/sound can be applied.

I am not sure if this is because the s/w is held on an SD card, but is there any way to make checkpoint pickup on the TomTom map directory??
Will checkpoint work with this version of TTN?
If not what are the alternatives?

The only POI warning software that works with the HP Navigation Pack version of TomTom Navigator is that built in to TomTom Navigator.


The HP Navigation Pack uses similar software to the new TomTom Navigator 2004 product in the USA and Canada. Both are based around TomTom's "common platform" software, not the older TomTom Navigator 3 software.

To date, this "common platform" software doesn't work with the Navigator SDK, so none of the TomTom add-on programs will work.

Ok thanks for that, its a shame CheckPoint wont work with it, nice piece of s/w that.

Is there any way we can use the Checkpoint (or any other) sound files with the built in POI warner?
I cant find any wav files for the existing ones anywhere in any directory (SD Card or Prog Files).
It would be good to just "drop" the new wav files into the directory and TomTom pick it up.... and then assign it to a POI

Any ideas?

Unfortunately I don't have a "common platform" release of Navigator to experiment with. There is a way of adding warnings to a POI category somewhere on the system, but I don't know precisely where it is (save that it's somewhere in the POI configuration) or how configurable it is.

Thats cool, it has built in alarms/sounds to add to the POI warner.
I was only wondering about personal sounds files.

The idea was to have TomTom use other sounds files from CheckPoint to play the warnings, as its built-in ones are a bit crap....
I was certain there must be a sound directory containing the existing warning sounds...... yet i cannot find it.....
