Is there any way to buy the TomTom 3 Navigator software for the Tungsten T3 WITHOUT buying the bundle?

I was given a GPS receiver, so don't want to buy one as part of the bundle.

There is no TomTom 3 for the Tungsten. What you mean is TomTom Navigator 4

Fair enough! So, Is there any way to buy the TomTom Navigator (whateverversion/variant) software for the Tungsten T3 WITHOUT buying a bundle that include the GPS hardware?

Not currently no, you used to be able to buy the PocketPC software only version and it was on there but I believe this has recently been removed Sad

I bought the bundle as the included cradle for the T3 is really nice, could you not do this and 'eBay' the gps?

Currently the TomTom Navigator for Palm (not TTN V4) is only available as a complete package with a GPS and mount. I dont know why this should be and when questioned TomTom have never given a satisfactory answer.

The cheapest way of purchasing this is with a wired GPS which you can pick up for around £170. You cant really sell the wired GPS on as there is no cable set to connect it. It does give you the option of having a fixed car solution.

You didnt mention if your current GPS is a BT on or a wired one. If it is a BT one then you could also have both a backup GPS and one you can use in other cars easily.

Like 'jj1966', I had a BT GPS and then had to buy the bundle (with BT GPS) to get the software so then had two BT GPSs. If doing this again, I would buy the wired GPS (for use in the car) as my T3 crashes whenever I try to use the 'other/second' BT GPS with it (unless I soft reset) - I think this may be something to do with the fact that the pass key is the same for all TT GPS units and this cannot be changed, but the serial numbers are different and this confuses the software. I have TTN4.4 for Palm.

I also get problems when using either BT GPS with another package (such as OS maps on Fugawi) but think this is something to do with the way that TT grabs the BT driver and won't let other packages get access to the GPS data (without a soft reset) ...? Can anyone confirm this? Or it could be a further legacy of the confusion caused by the two GPS aspect.

When you have multiple GPS receivers , and have set the BtBrowserEnabled to 0 then you will have to tell the BT Manager when you want to change the default device. Otherwise it keeps looking for the otehr one. Simply connect to the new BT receiver once, and from now on that one is the one that will be expected.

I don't think you have a BTManager on the Palm. but the problem (and solution) is the same on PocketPC, Smartphone, and Palm. The basic lesson is - try to stick with one BT receiver per device.
