The new files for Release 2.114 are now on the server :D POIsync users may not be able to see the new pocketgps_uk_temp data until Dave Burrows edits a script.

The details are as follows:-

pocketgps_uk_gatso - 3519 entries, 147 new
pocketgps_uk_redlight - 432 entries, 131 new
pocketgps_uk_specs - 55 entries, 33 new
pocketgps_uk_mobile - 621 entries, 119 new
pocketgps_uk_temp - 20 entries, all new

No changes to the Continental data.

All of the OV2 files have been created using the TomTom utility MakeOV2 so there is no need for TomTom Mobile users to reformat the files. The release number is in the readme.txt file so check that file after downloading. If the new files have not been downloaded then clear your Internet Explorer cache and try again.

Thanks to all of you that sent in updates, and keep them coming in Thumbs Up

Richard

If you have downloaded the latest version (v2.114) then have a look in the readme.txt file where I have given some guidelines. Email your updates to cameras at this website.

Hi,

Just a small point, on the map with the locations of the known cameras, the legend for the red dot is Redlight Cameras, but under the map, the red dots are said to indicate new camera entries!

Have I missed something here ?

No you have not missed anything - you have spotted something :D The legend is correct - ignore the line below the map.

Dont know if this is the right thread.i have downloaded the new database extracted the files all i need to know is do i just cut and paste the ov2 files and the bitmap files,am i correct in saying i dont have to cut and paste the excel files.i have read the instructions but i would just like to clarify this, also if i dont want the temp ov2 and temp bitmap files do i have to use them to work alongside the other files.sorry if i sound a bit thick. Confused this is my first time using this software

Hi Steve,

You don’t say what unit or set-up that you’re using. If you’re using a TomTom product then you just need to place the .OV2 and .BMP files for each database type that you require in the relative map folder.

If you’re using TT GO (or TT Palm or TT Mobile) then you can use the inbuilt proximity alert, if you’re using TT Navigator on a PDA then you need to use a third party POI Detector such as CheckPOInt 2.0.2 or GPSAssist.

Regards,

Time to update the webpage text?

NOTE TO EXISTING USERS

We have just released a new version of the PocketGPSWorld.com Safety Camera Database. There's a slight difference (and it wont work straight out of the box, so take note!). The subtle difference is - that it has now been split into three files. Namely:-

PocketGPS_UK_GATSO.ov2
PocketGPS_UK_REDLIGHT.ov2
PocketGPS_UK_SPECS.ov2
PocketGPS_CONTINENTAL.ov2
PocketGPS_UK_MOBILE.ov2

...And the new Temp file, which makes six.

I can move POIs recorded in Checkpoint.OV2 file to the pocketgps_uk_gatso.ov2 file in POI Edit but I cannot get them to show as gasto cameras in TT3. Can this be done as it would be easier than trying to edit them on the PPC and risk loosing them if the next update does not include them?

CheckPOInt.ov2 doesn't have a .bmp associated with it. If you want to use the camera one, make a copy of pocketgps_uk_gatso.bmp as CheckPOInt.bmp, then you should be able to display the cameras.

Am I missing something here?

I have copied all of the .bmp files and the .osv files to the GB map directory on my storage card, but neither Checkpoint nor TomTom is picking them up.

I am using Checkpoint 3.2 and TomTom 2

Btw I presume the guides are out of date now?

Cheers guys
