Since yesterday, selecting the above after logging in to the forums no longer bring up the table of latest posts. What's happened please?
I also noticed that at some point yesterday the "Our Site" panel on the left had only three options in it. I think they were "Home", "Downloads" and "Forums".
Have there been some tweaks to the software behind the scenes? |

Are you still having problems? It worked fine for me this morning. Have you tried deleting your PocketGPSWorld cookie and logging on again? Judging by the different footer regarding PHPNuke (didn't it show the version number and a lot more other info before?) I'd say that some changes have been made.... _________________ Tim |

Well, I must be going crazy. I thought the extra info had disappeared, but there it is, right under my post! I thought it had been at the bottom of the screen. _________________ Tim |

I did what you suggested, Tim, but it's still not working. |

The reason why some of the modules went offline on Friday evening was because we were performing some upgrades on the test server in readiness for the live server, but unfortunately some of the changes affected the live server. As we were part way through an upgrade on the live server we decided to take the bull by the horns and continue the upgrade.
I've checked the the View posts since last login and it's working for me on both my account and a non-admin account, so I can only think you have a corrupted cookie or a cookie blocker that's causing a problem.
Once you've logged in, if you click any other link before going to the last posts link then it will show nothing (this is how it has always worked). |

I had the same problem this morning - we can't ALL have corrupted cookies. It had logged me in fine, and as always I went straight to the forum and clicked to view posts since last visit, but nothing.
I hadn't logged in since Frioday afternoon - maybe the upgrade did something it shouldn't have?! |

Ditto. In fact I deleted ALL of my cookies yesterday in an unsuccessful attempt to get it to work again. _________________ Kam |

Still having problem. Have now deleted cookies and will try again this afternoon. Seems to be server-side though... (and very irritating!) |

Guys, you need to do a bit of fault diagnosing. To say all are having problems isn't the case. 5 out of nearly 10,000 users is a very small percentage which suggests to me it's a browser based issue, a local cache issue or your ISP is caching web pages.
I have tested this on 3 different PC's under 4 different accounts and I am not seeing this problem at all.
1) Which browser are you running
2) Which version (including dot release and service pack).
3) Which URL are you going to to get to the forum ?
4) Once at PocketGPSWorld.com what links are you clicking on before clicking the view last posts ?
5) Goto the main forum view (top right) do you see the word LOG IN ?
6) What happens when you try using a different web browser ?
7) Which popup blockers, anti-spam tools are you running ? e.g. Zone Alarm, Google / Yahoo Toolbar ?
8 ) Have you tried to disable or exit the anti spam tools or allow popups ?
9) Are you forced to LOG IN every time you come back to the site ?
10)Which ISP are you using, and does it work okay if you try another ISP (e.g. at work or home) ?
11)If using IE, goto TOOLS | INTERNET OPTIONS | CONNECTIONS | LAN SETTINGS, untick every tick box, close IE and re-open, then try to come to the forum, does it work now ?
12)Which OS version are you running and at what Service Pack level ?
Bear in mind that there may not be new posts since your last visit if you are testing this and that your own post won't be seen as a new post because you've already seen it when you've posted it. |

Dave/Everyone,
If this helps at all:
I'm using Firefox, but will try next time using IE.
Currently accessing at work but will try from home as well later, which would determine if it's a local-PC or cachine issue.
Am going to www.pocketgpsworld.com
Do not have to login. I did delete my pocketgps cookies and then obviously had to login, but still no posts since last visit.
Running no popup-blockers/anti-spam on this PC, no Google toolbars or anything
As for the ISP, it's MCI at work and telewest at home.
I can't believe it's entirely local-PC related, as suddenly a few people are experiencing this all at once. My guess is that the upgrades have caused an issue with something that we all have in common (maybe Firefox?), and that's why it's not as widespread.
Incidentaly, I've just tried another site that uses the same forum software (PhpBB although a slightly different version) and can do it fine on that, using Firefox or IE.
What's everyone using - maybe we can narrow it down. |

Dave,
1) Firefox
2) 1.0
3) http://www.pocketgpsworld.com
4) Forums
5) No. I usually see Log OUT and ignore it but I have tried logging out and back in again.
6) Same result with Internet Explorer.
7) All turned off.
8) See 7.
9) No.
10) Freedom to Surf
11)
12) XP SP2
UPDATE: I think it might be fixed for me now. I normally use a bookmark to www.pocketgpsworld.com, but just now I logged in at www.pocketgpsworld.com and it all seems OK now. _________________ Kam |

Yup, that seems to be the problem.
I just changed my bookmark to www.pocketgpsworld.com and now it works.
Well done Kartracer!! |

There has always been a problem with using the site across two domains, so if you have gone in on say pocketgpsworld.com and that's where your cookie is set, and you then click a link that someone posted in the forum pointing to pocketgpsworld.com the cookie will log you in sometimes but it will get confused.
The latest patches have actually provided full support to firefox (there apparently were a few minor issues), but AFAIK nothing else has changed. |
