|

I have a 303E which I use in my ipaq 2210 with tomtom. This has worked ok enough for some months, but lately its started with an annoying behavior. 8O
First, its very slow to connect to anything, takes from 10 to 20 minutes before it finds enough so I actually can use tomtom. Then it works ok most of the time, however sometimes it just loses every signal and then its 3-4 minutes before its back. Never did this before. Also, it has problems getting the speed of my car right, jumps up and down all the time alltho i'm driving at a steady speed.
I use the same settings as I did when it worked ok, so i'm starting to think that the gps is ready for replacement.. I have an external antenna, but its no difference with that connected or not.
Any ideas? |

GPS receivers don't wear out. The most likely explanation for the problem is that your settings in TomTom GPS are incorrect.
If you go to GPS status, tap on the second tab. Tap the box at the top left to remove the tick, then set the top option to "NMEA 0183v2 4800" and not "Haicom GPS" (which is for SiRF based Haicom models, not Evermore based models like your HI-303E).
Make sure the port is correct, then tap the box to tick it again.
Are things any better now?

Hmm, no difference.
Is it normal that it takes so long before they find anything? |

To answer myself, no its not.
I figured, since this is a little windows machine, a typical windows solution should work. So, i reinstalled tomtom and soft reset the ppc..
And guess what? It works great now. 8) |
