Anyone got views on Kingston 1.0gb SD cards?

Like the title says: mymemory.co.uk selling them for £50 and I'm tempted, but wary of anything not Japanese-manufactured.

These days there are good SD cards not of Japanese manufacture, and a couple of people have posted that Toshiba are now making some cards in Taiwan (previously they were one of the two companies typically behind Made in Japan cards). It's possible that these Taiwanese Toshiba cards are fake, but they could just as easily be genuine; I haven't heard any hard information from Toshiba either way.

Lexar 32x SD "Made in USA" seems OK; I'm using a 1GB one of those in my iPAQ hx4700. It seems that Lexar have gone to their own design (or a design made for them) and away from rebadging cards from other manufacturers. With these cards, you can see a Made in USA on the packaging before destroying it to get at the card.


Unfortunately there's also some garbage out there. I'm always interested in people reporting on how well or badly SD cards work, especially if they post the markings from the back of the card so that we can compare them to other good and bad cards.
