Have you configured CheckPOInt to monitor the installed POI files? You need to tell it which POI Overlays you want to monitor, what sound files you want played when approaching etc.

Start CheckPOInt, go to the Today screen (if you have it configured to start Navigator automatically, choose any mode other than Navigator, then you can tap on Start to choose Today), then tap and hold on the CheckPOInt icon at the bottom right of the Today screen. That will pop up the CheckPOInt menu.

Drive around and check it - it's impossible to list the settings as they change according to personal preference. Be aware that CheckPOInt only works in the Navigator screen.

The most important thing is to check that the overlays you want alerting on are enabled in the Overlay Settings menu - and that the sounds you've configured play OK.

The other thing to check is that the hardware button you've configured to record a POI is set to <Default setting> in the Advanced tab of TomTom Navigator's properties - otherwise Navigator will claim that button push itself and not pass it through to CheckPOInt.

Checkpoint works in map view as well. That's certainly true in my set up - I'm using version 2.0.2 on an iPaq 3870 running on PPC2002.
