My GPS receiver appears to have died.
It's been working fine until tonight when the red light stopped coming on, and it doesn't pick anything up at all.
Can I buy a replacement antenna from anywhere?
The power supply seems fine (the green LED comes on).
It's one that came with a car adaptor and has a funny plug on it that looks like a PS2 port (is it a PS2 port?).
Cheers,

It's possible that the thing has somehow been switched into SiRF binary mode, which will stop the light flashing and stop software that expects NMEA input from working.
There's two ways ahead if that is the case. One is to install Winfast Navigator and see if you can 'find' your GPS again. Assuming you're using a Pocket PC, there's an article that may help you here.
The other is to disconnect the power to the GPS for a few days (for example by unplugging the GPS from the PDA lead) to let the internal GPS battery go flat - at which point it will reset itself to factory defaults.
It's unlikely that the GPS has died unless it was fed a power surge or one of your connectors or cables has been damaged.

The PPC isn't recognising the receiver at all.
I left it off for 3 days and tried it today, but it still does nothing.
One of my fuses blew in the car (I forget which one) and since then it hasn't worked.
It's only a few months old, so I'm trying to get it swapped over.
I'm lost without it. |

Further to this, I tried a friends receiver (exactly the same model) with my power adaptor on Wednesday, and the red light came on steady then flashed when it got a signal, but TomTom wouldn't recognise a signal from it at all.
I tried all the usul reboot etc tricks, but it still wouldn't have it. Although the PDA is still charging up fine.
Is there an internal fuse related to the receiver only that could have blown on the power adaptor? |

Try a different cable set - yours may have suffered damage or the connectors may have worn out.
If a different cable set doesn't work, it could be a problem in your Pocket PC - either a software issue (which a hard reset will solve - it's drastic, but your only option if you've ruled everything out - Sprite Backup should make it less painful). The alternative is a hardware issue such as wear or damage to the sync / charging port - a hard reset won't solve this.
