Avoiding roads

This is driving me mad

One of the places i go to semi-regularly (about every week or so) has the main approach road closed for a 4 mile stretch of road approaching the area. It will be like this for about another 6 weeks.

Every time i let Navigator take me there it sends me down this road. Only when on the road can you then select avoid for x miles which is no good as you can't even join it.

Is there any way i can avoid this road completely??

You can only block parts of the route after you have planned a route. permanent, route independent avoids are not possible.

However, you can create a route that contains the "final approach" to your destination, avoiding the problem area, and then whenever you need to drive there, simply recall that route.
