Hi all!

Please can anyone with the new GPS PDA from Aldi tell me if theirs is the same with the following:
If I bring up the start menu or play any sound, after the sound for a period of around 5 seconds, there is a slight buzzing noise coming from the speaker on the unit...like interference of some sort. The noise then goes away until another sound is initiated through the PDA. Is this normal or do I have a faulty unit?

Any experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Adam

Here's an update :

The Aldi device is a re-badged Mitac Mio 168 btw.

Mio168 and Mio336 audio patch

Happened to be on the Mitac site looking for something else and found this - this may help with the sound problems I have read about with the Mitac Mio 168.

http://www.mio-tech.be/downloads/default.asp

Some Mio168 and Mio336 might suffer from bad play-back or bad recorded sound quality.
To solve this, you can download the below patches, extract the contents of the file to your SD-card and run the extracted .cab file on your device by opening it from File Explorer (Start > Programs > File explorer).
Please note: after every hard-reset (see Quick Start Guide) you need to re-install this patch.

Audio patch for Mio168 (Zip, 30Kb)

Audio patch for Mio168 (Zip, 15Kb)

This is how it is on the site - not sure if that is meant to read Mio336

Sad Just installed this patch and now my PDA is knackered.

Looks like a hard reset is in order. B*llox.

Can I recommend Sprite Backup - it's a great help when experimenting.
