Got one of these on Thursday last, have a few questions.

1 - What is the largest size SD/MMC card that can be used with this?

2 - Is it possible to use Bluetooth (add on device) with this unit?

3 - How does one go about installing software on this?

4 - Is there a better mapping software that provides more detail for the Republic of Ireland?

5 - What is the original brand, I don't seem to get anything like it on the Medion homepage?

Thanks,

Marcus

1. You can use a 1GB SD if you wish.
2. I'm not sure that an SD BT Card exists so possibly not.
3. Software is installed via Active Sync, you connect the PDA to a PC, and launch the installer for the software on the PC.
4. Your current software uses TeleAtlas map data. The other data providers are navteq and they have better coverage in the ROI, CoPilot uses navteq as does Navigon.
5. The hardware is manufactured by Mitac and is a Mio168. The Nav Software is a version of Navigon albeit with TeleAtlas Data instead of Navigon's normal Navteq.

To augment Darren's answer to point 2 - add-on Bluetooth cards have always been problematic on Pocket PCs. Many didn't work when their owners upgraded from Pocket PC 2002 to Pocket PC 2003. HP never supported their official iPAQ Bluetooth upgrade pack under Pocket PC 2003.

We now have Pocket PC 2003 Second Edition on some devices, and as the market for add-on Bluetooth cards has to be shrinking all the time, I can't see manufacturers bothering to continue to support existing cards. Most if not all of the Pocket PC Bluetooth cards were CompactFlash, not SDIO anyway. Those machines with CompactFlash slots that are available these days tend to be higher end machines that usually have Bluetooth anyway.

There's now a wide variety of Pocket PCs with built in Bluetooth (which is why there's such a small market for add-on Bluetooth products). If you want Bluetooth on your Pocket PC, it's best to buy a machine with Bluetooth included. I realise this probably isn't what you want to hear when you've just bought a machine, though.
