I am having problems connecting my recently acquired Holux GR-230 Bluetooth to the Memory Map program installed on my iPaq 3970.Should I be trying to use the same port on the iPaq namely 5 or 8 as is used to run the GR-230?I have uninstalled the TomTom 3 as advised in the Forums

Yes, whichever COM port you would usually use you should use in Memory Map. Remember that most GR-230's use 9600 as a baud rate (NMEA) not 4800 like most GPS would use.

You shouldn't need to uninstall TomTom, it's just if you can't get a connection using any other GPS application you need to uninstall the TomTom ~ GPS program and soft reset.

Dave, many thanks for confirming I am using the correct port in M.M.but I am still unable to link M.M.with Holux even though I am acquiring: 3D.The M.M. Status is showing 'Communication timeout'.Also the list of ports show COM5 & immediately below :- COM5:Bluetooth Serial Port connection which I highlight but the iPaq appears to go back to COM 5! I have also tried SIRF without success.Should I reinstall M.M on the iPaq?

I would try asking in the Memory Map forum. If it's a 2210 you are using then you want COM8 as your BT port and not COM5 (wrong BT port).

Thanks for your response.I have posted the problem on the memory Map Forum & also Emailed Holux UK.However I am now having a problem in connecting Holux SP slave in Bluetooth as 'Incoming connection'which is what I presumably need & not the 'Outgoing connection' which it tends to connect to.Can anyone advise?
