First you need to download the safety camera database and extract the files. Then contact the .ov2 and .bmp files to the map folder on your storage card.
If you want to receive warnings then you need a POI utility, I reccomend you use CheckPOInt, see here for your options and instructions on installation. _________________ Darren Griffin |

You don't need the .csv or .xls files, they are provided for users of other systems (these files are the raw data suitable for conversion to other formats).
I'll get the Safety Camera Page updated to address this as I agree it is a little confusing.
Unless you are travelling abroad and have European Maps or Major Roads of Europe Installed then you don't need the pocketgps_continental files either _________________ Darren Griffin |

As far as I understand it, CheckPoint (which you recommend) seems to talk only about TomTom. Does it also work with Navigon's MBN4? Is it similar in function to POI-Warner?
I thought there might be a comparative review, but haven't found it - if it's there! |

OOPs. Just found where all the POI reviews are!
But still not sure if they work with Navigon, or only TT? |

The SPECS database is a new addition. It's there to cater for the latest Speed Camera menace, SPECS which calculate your average speed over a measured distance.
As you pass under the first camera your registration plate is recorded together with the time, a short distance further along you pass under another and the time is again recorded. As the distance between cameras is known your speed can be calculated. This system stops all those who hit the brakes as they approach a camera and then accelerate after it has been passed.
Read more here and take note of the SPECS Logo that adorns the gantries so you know what to look out for. Northampton has the first, Tower Bridge has one too but expect more to spread fast _________________ Darren Griffin |
