WiFi POIs - how to get a larger list

Hi,

I've just discovered the use of POIs with TT on Palm. Great.

Now - I'd like to get a big list of WiFi hotspots into POI format. I've seen the list created by Chris Devereux of 1889 hotspots from The Cloud, BT Openzone, and T-Mobile back in Dec03.

Looking at one of the aggregation directories - jiwire has 6,680 listed for the UK. They've got an online service for finding the hotspots as well as a downloadable tool for querying the database off-line. This is updated on a regular basis.

This includes a file that must list all of the hotspot locations, however I'm guessing the format is encrypted. It would be really cool if we could get an automated dump from jiwire into an ov2 file.

Having used JWire before on my laptop, a fair percentage of the hotspots listed do not have Wifi.. I found this out the hard way while trying to find one in Birmingham about 4 weeks ago. Out of the 8 places I tried, only one had a Wifi hotspot.

To be fair though, they are currently undertaking an audit of all the places listed and will hope to have it updated.
