Also, one of my work colleages recently purchased a 'bytestor' 1GB high speed SD card. Based on the code on the back of it, it looks like another rebranded Integral card like my Play card. See it here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0002XVHCU/o/qid=1104937051/sr=2-1/ref=sr_bt_1/202-7188592-3819808
He has had a few lockups on his XDAII, but he isn't sure whether it is a TT3 problem or that his XDA is running out of memory.
I believe that your colleague's problem is the SD card; as I've said previously in the forums, I could get the card of that type (which has a letter followed by eleven numbers on the back) that I had to foul up in many ways - some being nothing to do with a Pocket PC.
Two simultaneous read operations in my card reader on my PC was often enough, and running a 'data shredding' tool (in my case, PGP Free Space Wipe) to work the card hard often shut the card down too. Indeed, it went wrong once when copying files onto the card using Windows Explorer. The problem was that the card stopped responding, as if its on-board controller just decided to shut down.
I cannot recommend those cards; my belief is that they have a design flaw.

Hello. just to let you know, I agree that SD cards can make a real difference. I used to have a 256Mb unbranded SD card with my maps on that caused TTN to crash all the time intermittently, meaning it always needed a soft reset.
I've now replaced this card with a KingMax 256Mb Platinum SD card (High Speed 66x). This causes no problems at all when using TTN and it runs noticably faster.
I Agree. Whenever I buy an SD card these days I try to talk the vendor into allowing me to put it in my Palm T3 first to see who made it. I use the inbuilt Cardinfo utility to check to see the controller manufacturer. Where possible I try to stick to Japanese controllers, beit Toshiba or Panasonic. Provided they have JAP contollers, I happily use non brand name stuff.
1GB Kensington = SD01G Toshiba (BTW it coast 45GBP in Singapore)
256 DigiFILM = SH256 Panasonic.
As an aside, the SD card sellers in SIN told me that high speed 1GB cards are not currently available (2/2005) in the market. Smaller sizes yes but 1GB no. I think mine is quoted as 33x read 10x write, but you can get up to 60 in smaller sizes. _________________ BT77 GPS

Hi all,
I have an old 256mb SimpleTech SD card (which a friendly person on here told me would work) which I use in my Dell Axim X5 with TomTom Nav.3 and it all works fine. (the Sandisk 256mb SD Card didn't work).
I'm thinking of upgrading to a new Dell Axim X51v with TomTom Nav.5 and I'm looking for a 1GB SD Card to use with it. I wanted another SimpleTech one but can't seem to find them anymore.
So its looking like a Kingston or a Lexar, E-buyer has a cheap Viking but a review said it didn't work with his Dell X5.
So does anyone how to buy a that will 100% work?
