GO or mio 168 or navman pin???

ok i want a all in one system and have narrowed it down to these options
TOMTOM GO
mio 168 with tomtom or co piolot
navman pin
or navman 510

i want your views on whats the best prices vary a lot and seem to offer the same but is there something ive missed

tomtom go £412
mio with tomtom £345
mio with copilot £375
navman pin £370
navman 510 £499

it will only be used in the car and maybe on foot every now and then
i will want to add poi's for speed cameras and petrol stations
it needs to be all in one as i hate wires and bits and pieces i have enough of them already

so whats your views is tom tom best if so in what guise?
is copilot any good as i wouldnt mind decent europe maps thrown in also
why is there a big difference in price seeing as the 510 seems to be less of a unit than say the mio which is cheaper

If you want better maps - go for CoPilot as they use Navteq maps. all the others use Teleatlas.

The 510 is better than the PiN (mio) as it has the latest v3 software with built in POI warning as does the GO.
the 510 can be bought for £480 so there is a 320 saving there.

The mio/Pin is a pocket PC with all the functionality therein. the GO and iCN510 are dedicated units where you sdimply switch on and go....

So your next question should be... do i want PPC functionality or a dedicated plugin and go unit?

Oops... I missed the bit about 'on foot every now and then'.

In this case the TomTom GO is out. From your list you will need to consider the Mio, PiN or iCN 510

well th eon foot bit is because i will take it out my car when i leave it as i dont like leaving things like that in my car

in what way are the maps better is it more detail or have more things listed i like the look of tomtom but want the best possible

i have at the moment the aldi medion package and dont use the pocket pc functions as i have a sony p900 which does that for me

is the icn510 worth the extra say £120 over the pin or mio package? in your opinion i like the look of it and its landscape view i prefer but the price hike seems a bit much for that

as they have the v3 software of poi's does that mean the others dont or cant have them upgraded and if so for how much basically i want a easy system with as little as possible to take out with me cheap but would pay more for extra useable benifits hence the upgrade at the moment for less wires better maps

The GO may sit in your hand but have you tried slipping it into you pocket??

The latest post by G1OSE states he meant simply not leaving it in the car when unoccupied, well in this case he could use the GO.

i agree GO is not very pocket friendly but all it has to offer is the louder speaker for that extra size which really isnt much for me for the size its such a hard decision

the medion is a not go i hate the wires and the mess it makes with everything strewn over the dash each time its gotta go unfortunatly but good idea

how good is the pin software for an occasional user as the £479 price tag seems a bit much unless it has lots to offer

does being a nav only unit give benifits like the go or the pin over the pocket pc i read about installing after not using much but is that it?

OK to summarise:

You want an all-in-one system and want to add speed cameras:
TOMTOM GO £412 speed cameras-yes
mio 168 with tomtom £345 speed cameras-yes
Mio with Co Pilot £375 speed cameras-yes
Navman PiN £370 speed cameras-no
or Navman iCN510 £480 speed cameras-yes

To keep the price down then the only options open to from the above are the Mio with TomTom nav3 or CoPilot as you want to install speed cameras.
The PiN with its current v2 software cannot use safety cameras.

ok then sorted ill go for the mio and have a look to see what 3d maps are better from the forums

You have made a wise choice. I have used LOOX 600 TomTom hardwired, LOOX 420 with TT and Bluetooth. The Mio with TT is definatly the best, I have also tried Mio with CoPilot, not at all happy with this combination.

I use a mio 168 with tt3 and memory map. Tomtom maps are a little out of date, but it has not caused me any issues yet. Memory map is superb if you need to find your way across a field. The battery has lasted me up to 5 hours on a walk. The voume is fine even in an open top car. Highly recomended as a stand alone system.
