GPS signal and lock

Depsite some months of good working, the number of times my unit fails to get signal or gps lock is increasing (same car and position all the time).

Anyhow, in e-mail correspondance with Navman, they now advise:

"We do not advise trying to obtain a GPS fix while moving, as this WILL impact the time to fix quite substantially."

So, what do I do - wait for it to lock before driving off? I suppose I could spend the time looking at a map ....
