Decided against the bluetooth GPS option now, and think i will go for a wired receiver instead. I have just bought a navman 3450 setup, and dont like it (GPS takes 5-10 mins to lock, and keeps dropping) so am returning it.

I have TomTom 3 software already, so need a Brodit Cradle (Active, with the wire that comes from the rear of the unit) and a proclip.

I though that the TX and RX wire was for the GPS, but looking at handnax
http://www.handnav.co.uk/product_details.php?id=209 they say that you cant wire in a GPS receiver to the cradle??????

My thought was to have a cradle, wire in the power to the back of the glovebox light (as this only gets power when the car is unlocked) this was, it will give the GPS Receiver 1-2 mins to lock, before the PDA even gets mounted.

The PDA i have as a 38xx so am i right in wanted the Brodit Active with hard wire, which has the TX-RX lead?

If so, which particular GPS Receiver do i need to connect to these TX - RX wires? Is there a plug on the end of the TX - RX????

Thanks
Rich

I think what they mean is that the Brodit mount doesn't have a RJ11 jacket where you can plug in the serial receiver directly, but it does have the cable with all the required wires. So you could either solder a RJ11 socket onto the wire or cut the cable of your receiver and connect teh two cables directly.
