|
|
I've got the proper holder for my iPaq.
It's got a sucker that sticks to the windscreen.
THe problem is that when it gets sunny... the iPaq bakes in the sun!
It gets really hot!!
Is this a problem I need to be concerned about!?
Let me know.
Thanks.

You bet it is. If the iPAQ gets too hot it will refuse to switch on or stay on. The display will stay blank.
Make sure you cover the Pocket PC while you are out of the car (with a baseball cap for example) and you should direct the air conditioning towards the device when you want to cool it down again. Mine sits in a vent mount, in the ideal position to get cool again if need be. _________________ Lutz

Or better still, take it with you when you leave the car.
On the odd occasion that the sun comes out I would, as Lutz suggests, try to position it in front of a vent to help keep it cool. _________________ Ian.

yep, vent mount is the best solution, and I never risk leaving my kit in the car for fear of attracting 'unwanted' attention. I strapped my tomtom carmount for the Ipaq 2210 to my VW passat's air vent with a couple of small cable ties, works fine, holds firm and is noon-intrusive when you want to swap vehicles. |

Leave thw iPaq in the car?
Erm... I live in London, that would never be done!
I was just talking about driving around and using it... it gets hot!
If something did go wrong... surely Tomtom would be liable, since thye supply their kit for use with the iPaq stuck to the widnscreen?? _________________ iPaq 3870

HA! You're kidding?! Tomtom have no control over the weather and there's no way they can control where abouts you stick the mount.
No way they'll let you pin it on them if your pda fails due to overheating. |

seriously... i think there's a case to be heard.
they supply u the holder with a sucker to be held on the windscreen!
u can't say that they don't know what the weather is like.
and they have no warning saying, please don't use when the sun comes up!
i'll speak to my lawyers and see how many millions i can make. ;) _________________ iPaq 3870
