Just to be certain . . . . . can someone clarify

the 9532's has a RJ-11 connection which will plug directly into the TomTom car kit without the need for further cables ?

Not sure, but the pinouts and technical data are available for download at the TDC website - http://www.tdc.co.uk/technical/downloads.htm.

Yes, the 9532 plugs into the other units and cradles on the market. We have used them with the Seido unit and others.
