3970 does have a 400Mhz processor, but it depends which OS you're running on it, whether it's the bulk standard PPC2002 or WM2003.

If you do go to install it on your 2210, make sure you first put the 3970 into the cradle and de-activate it first otherwise you won't be able to activate it.

I've had a bit of a play with CP5 since Friday and have been generally impressed. There are a couple of issues that I've noticed and would appreciate any advice as to solutions, if any are known.

1. I cannot transfer favourites from pocket PC to the desktop.

2. If there are 2 turns less than 300ft apart, you will not receive an advance warning for the second, only the "ahead" instruction which can be too late.

Any advice gladly received.

I too have a Ipaq 3970, slow is not the word, pathetic sums it up better, type in London then Oxford Street and it takes a full 4 minutes to find it, I did mention this on the beta test version but appears nothing has been done to address the problem, I'm not sure where the problem lies, I thought it might be the storage card I use but it is fine on both v3.5 and 4 so it is definitely something amiss on this version, any suggestions would be helpful and is anyone else experiencing this as ALK say they have heard of it once before and they resolved it with a new driver for the GPS Sleeve ?????

Other problems so far: No registration code supplied - Software would not recognise Navman sleeve even with driver sent from ALK (Again this was mentioned on beta test but not resolved)

my 2210 with WM2003 is much faster

There is a SD card driver update for the 3970 on 2002 - make sure you have that installed. But I have to confirm that even with that setup (mine's identical) address lookup in bigger cities is a problem, and ALK have acknowlegded that.

Something is clearly wrong, I have CP5 installed on an IPAQ 5550 (similar processor) and it is very fast - as fast as I can punch in the address!! I was amazed at the ipmrovement over CP4!!

I have the MAPS installed on a 512 MB SD card (over 400MB currently loaded)

I've been using CP5 about a month now, on an ipaq 5555 with 2003. I don't notice any of these speed issues, have about 250 MB on an SD card, AND I run the application from the card.

Lookup and running are very fast.

I DO have some issues with it though, but I think they are working on them now

I can confirm the issues - on a 3970 with PocketPC 2002 (the SD card itself is high quality - not Sandisk). So either the operating system or the iPAQ 3970 SD memory driver are to blame for this.

if i have time i may install WM2003 and see if that helps? and out of interest i may load the maps on compact flash in my navman sleeve.
over all i think the 3970 is a lot slower than my 2210 even though they have the same size processor so maybe advances in design etc make the 2210 much faster?.

Received CPL5 upgrade yesterday, running on an iPAQ 3970 with WM2003, tried it on a short drive yesterday & no speed problems.

Just tried looking up Oxford street in "London,London", took under 10 seconds, no issue here (did feel a little sluggish just after searching for streets in London but once destination point added cleared back to full speed.)

Only other comment is I have pared my memory use back to minimum, install all apps in iPAQ Files Store (including cpl5) with no side effects, so have around 22MB program memory free before starting cpl5.

Very pleased so far

Cheers

Should have added - maps installed to SD card - it is a FujiFilm brand but has the same AR0306LR China code of some of the troublesome SD cards and certainly isn't a high speed special.
