Does anyone have any experience using the TomTom Traffic add on in Europe?

I know I have to have the full europe maps and it is France, NL and Germany only, but those are the areas i'm travelling through. 1400 miles round trip. I've been using it in the UK and it has helped on the odd occassion, particularly on longer trips.

BTW, whats the process for activating TT Traffic for europe?

Any info appreciated. Smile

Hi,

I have just come back from a trip to France and Switzerland using TT3 and Traffic and it works in France just as it does in the UK.

I have a mobile phone on T-Mobile GPRS enabled contract and it roams to Orange F in France, which is T-Mobile's preferred partner there. (I also set the phone for manual network selection to stop it roaming to SFR in areas of weaker Orange coverage).

If you have the European maps you can make a Traffic account using the paroduct code in the same way as you do for the UK map. Then you can activate a traffic trial period for France, Germany (and another UK one if you want).

I tried out the European traffic before I went. While in the UK I simply changed maps to France, and did a traffic data fetch to discover that there was one incident on my route from Calais to the Alps (a lane closure on a motorway near Annemasse). This was on a Sunday afternoon though.

On our trip I did the same thing as we emerged from the Channel Tunnel on a Saturday morning and got around 300 incidents reported - France is big - but only the lane closure on our route.

Check your GPRS tariff while roaming - my contract is extortionate for GPRS in the UK, but the same in Europe (I think!).

Neil
