I've been using the new traffic functionallity but have a few questions or suggestions:-
1. The traffic add appears to download all traffic problems each time a connection is made, instead of a subset. Not that the downloads are too large but on a busy day ie friday evening the download can take a while. Would it be better to download onl the incidents that are within a certain range lets say 30 miles. If the update is every 10 minutes theres no way you can cover 30 miles in that time. If you live in Birmingham it seems a little pointless downloading problems on the M25 & Manchester area?
2. Whilst in Navigator mode the traffic status bar down the left of the screen and the bottom seem to occupy a lot of screen space. Why not combine both, and have a single horizontal line acros the bottom. This would allow the ETA, time & distance to be displayed.
3. There appears to be a duplication of functionallity in that the Map & Traffic screens are very similar. Instead of two screens why not combine them and have an option to display traffic data on the map screen.
4. Last observation for some unknown reason the traffic addin seems to slow TomTom down. I'm not sure why?
What do others think, great addin, and not bad for a version 1 product, maybe we can feed these suggestions back to TomTom/ |

1. TT will download all traffic incidents for the active map, why not just install a smaller segment map that covers most of your journeys rather than the whole great_britain map.
2. I think that TT have done the best they can with the layout of traffic info, given the limited screen area (Although I would rather sacrifice the GPS signal bar instead of ETA etc). Try setting a hardware button to toggle the traffic bar on and off, I have and find it very easy to switch between displays.
3. Agreed, but you do have all of the functionality of the map screen in the traffic screen, it just seems to use a different colour scheme.
4. Do you have the latest version installed, the speed has definitely improved with this. Also, if you use smaller map segments, then load up times are much quicker.
In general, I am finding that TT Traffic is getting more reliable and accurate and may actually consider subscribing after the trial. |

The map in the traffic screen is different as it reflects the roads that the traffic scheme covers which is only the motorways and major A routes. On the ordinary map you see all the roads and would not know if a road that was not covered was incident free or not covered by traffic.
I would like to find an easier way of switching between the various maps and Navigator whilst driving. You can set a button to go from Navigator to map, but not the other way around and my fingers are too large to easily use the drop down menu whilst driving. |

Are yuo talking about starting up, or general use? Mine seems to take a lot longer to start now _________________ TomTom 6 - SPV M5000 and WM6

I have just had a look at the traffic screen, and it definitely has all roads on, depending on zoom level, the same as the map screen. |

They are all there but have you noticed that the roads on the Traffic map are marked differently as to whether they have traffic or not? |
