As far as I know, you can't unless you buy a cfQue or GPS10. Maybe Dave will know for sure?

Why don't they sell their mapping software by itself so you can use any GPS receiver? Good question. Knowing Garmin, this is a marketing decision rather than an technical one. If you wait a while then they may release a version of their Que software which isn't bound to a particular piece of hardware.

I guess they are worried that it would destroy sales of their PDA/GPS units like the iQue range if people could buy a cheap PDA and BT GPS (or use one they already have) and run Garmin's software.

The market is hotting up so who knows what might happen.

Currently Garmin software is only shipped with a valid Garmin GPS Receiver.

Talking of maps of Southern Ireland. I have copilot 5 and can run a route to Waterford on my PC using the place name but not on my XDAII. Yet I can use Latitude and Longitude (taken from my PC) on my XDAII and it runs the route and picks up the map and place names. I enclose ALK reply to my email below.
