GPSlim 236 stopped working...

I have an HP Ipaq rx3115 that I use with this Holux unit that I purchased slightly used about 6 months ago. From the get go it worked well, but about a month ago it stopped working.

The indicator lights showed a normal GPS and bluetooth fix, ie blinking about once per second. But it never transmitted the GPS data to my pda. I came across another forum that suggested a reset leaving the battery out, which I did and then it started working again. Then I shut it down and upon restart the same problem. My BT manager sees it connected and the GPS light is blinking but no GPS data. Im using it with Iguidance V3.

Will the firmware update correct this, or do I have another more serious problem?

Sounds like your device is switching to SiRF protocol - either by itself or through an action of the person in fronto of the screen 8O

Use SiRFDemo to get it back to NMEA mode, or - as you did - take the battery out for a while to force a factory reset. That takes it back to NMEA mode.

Thanks for the quick reply. Like I said I already did the reset once and now its back to the same behavior. I'm not changing any settings, leaving at default. Prior to Iguidance I was using streetatlas 2006 and thats when the problem first happened.

Will doing the firmware update hurt at all?
