iPAQ GPS and carphone through car radio?

Hi,

I want to use my iPAQ 6340 as a car phone, using the facility to play phone
sound through my car radio whilst simultaneously muting the radio
sound.
The radio has inputs for phone audio + and - , and a mute line.

The audio I guess will connect to the iPAQ audio output, but how do I
get the signal that mutes the radio sound?

If this works, I'd like to extend it to GPS nav using a Tom Tom GPS
with the iPAQ.

All suggestions gratefully received!

The car shops should have those little boxes that can generate a mute signal when there's a signal on the audio line.

However, the 6340 does not have an audio signal at the cradle connector, so you will see that your solution is anything but ergonomic and you will rip the audio cable off more than once when taking the iPAQ out of its cradle without thinking. (Well, at least that's what's happening to me)
