Hello Steve

If you go to the https://www.medionshop.co.uk/

Then click PDA/GPS Accessories - GPS Maps, there are maps listed for Spain, for version 3x

Quote:
Medion Electronics
GPS CD-ROM Map of Spain & Portugal for installed Navigation- Software 3.x
This is a detailed GPS CD-ROM MAP for navigating in Spain & Portugal.

Product No. 40006532 - £69.99

If your existing maps are 3x then I would think that they would work, models listed on the web site are:

MD41800, MD41584 and MD41338, if you look on the back of your unit you should see the model no in very small print.

Thanks for that but I have talked to the people at Medion who tell me that the only maps available for the 150 are the ones that appear when you click on GPS maps - at the moment the only map is USA which I find strange as the UK map must be available as I have it!!
The Model No on my machine is MD95082 which doesn't feature anywhere according to the Medion website and the helpdesk are useless.
The USA map which is suposedly for my model says Navigator vers 4 yet the CD Rom I got with the kit is Medion Navigator 3.1D so I am totally confused - £70 is a lot of money to fork out if the maps does not work!
I just wondered if anyone out there has actually got round the problem and can offer a surefire solution?

A number of us have been through this kind of thing with Medion before.

The best advice is to keep watching the web site, eventually they will put more maps up when they get them.

They may not have stand alone UK maps as they will have been bundled with the kit you bought. In the past it has been a case of no stock rather than no such product.

Sorry I can't be much more help.

You can download the 2003 maps from the mio map site http://www.mio-tech.be/downloads/default.asp
for france add

[Region01]

Text="France"
LongText="France,Belgium,Western Switzerland"
MapLang=9

PictureNumber=0

DownTopLeft=257,308
CheckTopLeft=400,320

PointCount=5
Point00=440,291
Point01=384,326
Point02=406,393
Point03=474,395

to the MapsUK_Ireland.ini file
found in C:\Program Files\MEDION Navigator 3.1D CE\Installer\Console

Does this mean if you download this map for France (193mb) then it can be used on the Medion MDPNA175 also as its the same as the NDPNA150?

Hi there Bob

I tried to do what you said with the files from the site http://www.mio-tech.be/downloads/default.asp which are France, Ibeira, Skandinavia,Deutschland plus Benelux.

I put them all on a cd minus Benelux in a folder called Maps plus I included the file disk1.txt from the pc on its own and not in the folder and when I started the Medion Console it did say France 236mb with a tick in it but would not load, it loaded a preloader onto the disk and nothing more happened.

I realised that this was not the size of the French map and changed the required line in MapsUK_Ireland.ini file the to 239000 to match the France file on the cd, this did not make a difference so I changed it back to 236000

I also noticed that the Text line said "France,Belgium,Western Switzerland" but I thought that would not do anything as it only appears when you pass the mouse over the France entry that is to be loaded from the Medion Console map loading screen.

Is there anything that is wrong with what I have done as it still does not load?

Thanks with anticipation.

Hi Bob

Just a thought, do you leave the downloaded Maps packed as they come direct from the site when you put them onto CD or do you unpack first them then put them maps in the Maps folder on the CD with the text file?

I have tried the unpacked method which did not work so I will now try the packed method.

Cheers

You need to unpack the maps and copy the france directory to cddrive:\maps\france.
create a directory called cddrive:\mapdata and place a copy of MAPUK_Ireland.ini in the directory.
it shouls then work ok.

But I have been told time and time again that only Medion software will operate on the MDPNA150 are you now saying that these maps will now load onto the 150?

Hi there
I can assure you that the maps worked for me ok on a MDPNA175 which is the same as a MDPNA150.
You can only give it a try and see.
