Hi all,
I recently bought a Mio 168 with TTN3, and on the whole I'm very happy with it. Or, at least I was until the other day when I was driving down the M25 and it told me to immediately turn sharp right!
Now, I understand the setting needs to go to NMEA 0183v2 4800 which I've done, but I haven't seen any documentation with my bundle telling me to use that setting, or indeed why. Are there others that work better? TTN3 does still lose me on that setting occasionally.
I've attached the additional aerial that came with my package, and at the moment it's sitting on the middle of my dashboard. Should it be installed actually outside my car?
Or perhaps I'm expecting too much from the package, and I should expect these sort of things every now and then?
Thanks in advance for any answers - I'll make sure I lurk for a while and answer any questions I can to repay the debt! (Oh, and of course, to get a few points!!!) :-)
NMEA 0183v2 COM2 should be the correct setting to use, there won't be anything better than this.
With regards to the antenna, obviously sat on the dashboard is going to give about the same coverage as what the internal flip-up antenna would give. It would be better putting it outside the car, but on average if you're getting between 7-9 sats on the internal flip-up antenna, then I wouldn't worry about using the external antenna.
