This is the link that gives instructions http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/tomtom-go-poi-alerts.php

Also if you look at the posting on page 7 of this thread it should answer most, if not all, of your questions.

I've installed the camera files and new warning sounds and it all worked fine using the superb instructions from the Pocket PGS Team - THANKS GUYS!

One appeal I would make however is to have at least one non speedcamera related warning sound to use with other POIs...... the buggle would be good as I used to have that to tell us when a decent pub or petrol station was nearby. Maybe replace the Gatso 20 mph warning? there are so few 20mph limits and associated speed cameras that this one can't be that vital for most of us. Nobody should be speeding in a 20mph zone anyway as they are usually outside schools and anyone getting caught out by a camera at low speeds needs better glasses not a warning device Rolling Eyes

Any chance of a new version of the sound data.chk file with one general warning sound instead of one of the less used speed camera warnings? Pretty please :D

There's always a chance... Anyone know of a good program that can merge OGG files together?

Wavepad from NCH Swift Sound is free and feature-rich:
(http://www.nch.com.au/wavepad/index.html) handles OGGs and also gives you a visual representation of the sounds for precision editing.

You may need the 'Masters Edition' to handle OGGs - I'm not sure if they are covered in the free version.

There is no batch utility but if you are only merging half a dozen files for the POI warnings, this shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Best,
TTTim

It may be feature rich but it needs to convert everything into WAV...

Anyhow, I have changed one of the sounds. Let me know which build you need, and for which device.

Sorry Lutz Embarassed There was a step I forgot to tell you about:

Wavepad will open OGG files (the first time you do this, it will automatically downloaded the oggdec.exe plugin) and it will allow you to combine and edit OGG files in a graphical environment. You an also add silence, echo, fade effects or change the volume levels etc to enhance the sound you are creating.

When you are done, save it as a WAV file (Wavepad will save in other formats, but WAV is fine for our purposes at this point) and then use NCH Swift Sounds "Switch Plus" for the conversion to OGG format.

"Switch Plus" is a drag and drop batch convertor for sound files and is available from http://www.nch.com.au/switch/index.html

Unfortunately, you do need to buy "Switch Plus" to encode OGG files as this feature is not provided in the free version, known only as "Switch". However, NCH offer a generous trial period and it is not excessively expensive if you decide you want to own a copy.

I hope this is some help - my apologies for not making this more apparent in my previous posting.

TTTim

BTW, I do not work for NCH Swift Sounds - I just find their software really useful and I'd like to share my enthusiasm Smile
