Do you have to assign all the different voice files Gatso 50, Gatso 60 etc? I have downloaded the files onto my T3 and they work (I agree too quiet though!! compared with the beeps and boings) in terms of telling me there is a Gatso or temporary etc but no speed warning. You would need 7 files of Gatso and know which ones were 20mph 30mph etc would you not. There only appears to be one when the GPS database is downloaded. Have I missed something here? Please confirm whether I am a techno muppett or is there still hope for me yet.

You need to assign the Gatso.wav to each Gatso speed and assign a different distance/speed to each one. Then you will be warned of a camera and the display will tell you the camera setting.

Apologies. I should have said the voices in the modified Data.chk that replace the Moo, etc.

Thank you Lutz.

I am missing something here, first of all I have a Tomtom Go, installed camera data :D , installed voices :D , but how do I assign the speed related "Gatso 30" etc warnings to the camera POI's. At the moment it will just say "Gatso" or "mobile" etc and not the speed limit for the camera Embarassed . In the instructions it says "assign in the usual manner" ?

If you go to http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/tomtom-go-poi-alerts.php there are instructions on which sound to choose to get a given camera warning. eg. Cow will give a spoken 'Mobile 70'.

In the 'Warn When Near' you can set whatever distance you're happy with at each speed of POI.

When picking a spoken phrase if there isn't a warning for a particular camera type - Gatso 70 hasn't a corresponding warning - choose 'Gatso' and the displayed icon on the map will tell you that's it's 70mph.

Still not getting this, Embarassed Tha cameras are grouped on the TTG under Gatso, mobile, redlight, specs, continental, temporary, and credits. and as far as I can see you can only set up the voice for the whole group, ie for Gatso cameras you go to "warn when near POI" select distance, select warning sound, beep 1, but that selects the voice "Gatso" to the whole "Gatso file" and the speed warning voices ie "Gatso 30 " are not used, so how do I select the speed specific files to the appropriate speed limits in the area of the camera?

Have you down loaded the correct Data.chk file? It's at http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/reviews/tomtom-go-poi/2852_new.data.chk .

With this you should get the following:

Beep 1 Gatso
Beep 2 Gatso 30
Beep 3 Gatso 40
Beep 4 Gatso 50
Beep 5 Gatso 60
Bell 1 Mobile
Bell 2 Mobile 30
Bell 3 Mobile 40
Boing Mobile 50
Bugle Mobile 60
Cow Mobile 70
Cuckoo Red Light
Polite 1 Specs
Polite 2 Temporary
Polite 3 Credits

Quote from the original article -

Firstly you need to check the current version of your TomTom GO software. You can find this by tapping the screen, then selecting Change Preferences, then tapping the next icon until you see the About TomTom Go icon.

The magic numbers that you should be looking for are App 4.400 (2843/... or App 4.420 (2852/... It will NOT work with any other version.

Just had another thought. Have you downloaded the Speed Zoned .OV2 and .BMP files or just the general camera files?

All the down loads have been done and are working correctly. All the voices are on and working. Do I have to create a new POI category for each of the camera types and speed limits to be able to use all the voices?

If the number of .OV2 files doesn't exceed 40, TTG will see them and you just have to enable each one in turn to display them.

The POI file, as a .OV2 file, is a category and in this instance has been 'created' externally to the TTG.

Hello

Is there anyway I can record my own voice and have it replace the other voices?

Jo - This thread has been about the POI warning sounds and it would be logical to assume that there would be a connection to the voice sounds used for turn directions. In fact there is a link, but it is not as simple as you might imagine.

Fortunately a very nice German guy called Alex Graff has written a utility called Viftool which will allow you to replace the sound files used for voice commands. Take a look at this thread ( http://pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=16637 ) for my initial write-up of how to use Viftool and a few subsequent comments and corrections.

Good luck
