Hi all im using a fortuna clip on with Ipaq 2210 and MM i can only get the clip on to show my position using NMEA

I thought the clip on used Sirf any ideas???

It uses a SiRF chipset. This chipset is capable of issuing data either in NMEA mode (text) or in SiRF mode (binary).

For street navigation this is completely irrelevant. If your system works fine as is then DON'T TOUCH IT . Keep using NMEA, and save yourself some of the hassles of switching back and forth between protocols.

Thanx for the replie and i do use NMEA for tomtom but tried sirf with memory map and nothing?!?!

just cant understand y? and what would the difference be with the 2??

I think I explained the difference (text vs binary)., Most programs (like MemoryMap) don't even understand SiRF, and require that you have a NMEA receiver.

As I said, for what you are doing the protocol does not matter, so stay on NMEA for your own benefit.

Sorry u did explain just a bit slow text as in letters binary as in numbers Embarassed
