i have a hp 2110 i put it in the car this morning to navigate to another town and the ipaq just done a soft reset and stayed on the soft reset screen for quite a while without resetting itself,i took out of the tom tom holder and it did"nt have no power,i have put it in the cradle connected to my pc and it froze again on the soft reset screen after a while it finally did a hard reset as i have lost everything on the pocket pc,i have checked the battery and it is very low (10%)i gather the battery lost the charge although it had battery life when i shut it off last night albeit not fully charged.i now have a couple of questions.is this normal thing to happen to this model of ipaq Just to drop the charge. also i have still got tom tom checkpoint and camera sounds on my cf card.do i have to reinstall tom tom back on the pda with checkpoint, another question i did not make a backup of dates on the diary i gather these are still in outlook when i sync. if i had made a backup of tom tom would it have been lost anyway? sorry if this is a bit long winded. thank god for the good old A-Z :D

Steve,
I won't answer the questions on re-installation.
The Models that HPr eleased about 18 months ago had a cunning plan in that they would not boot up if the battery was low to try and preseve data. This documented feature meant that you had to wait until the battery was holding greater than 3.3v before it would function normally.. Oh what a pain in the ar$e that was. Later versions of the Ipaq have done away with this experiment.
It is expertly detailed here http://www.ipaqrepair.co.uk/ipaq_battery.php along with other tips. _________________ iPhone5, TomTom, Google maps, Navfree, Viewranger and Apple Maps (ekk) |
