|
|
Hi guys
I have the safety camera DB installed ok and have been using it well in the past. However, I would like to add those new SPEED ZONED gatsos/mobiles on the TTG.
How do I do that? Do I delete the old Gatso / mobile .ov2 and copy all the individual files on the SPEED ZONED files? Bearing in mind the TTG only works on one level, Does this mean I will have the different speed zones saved as individual POIs?
What do I do with all the .wav files? Do the all go into the GB map?
Cheers.

Yes, all you need to do is to delete the old camera POIs and replace them with the new speed zoned ones. You will obviously need to set up warnings for them.
The wav files are for other versions of TomTom and other applications that support audio files. The GO can only use built in sounds. _________________ Mike Barrett |

this is the speed camera database categorised per speed limit. ie. a list of 30mph cameras, 50mph cameras etc. This allows separate warning icons and sounds. |

GATSOs are those little pesky roadside cameras that photograph you if they detect that you're speeding when you go past them. If you're caught then you are fined and given a few points on your driving licence.
See here for further information.

Here I am with a big thumbs up. It only took a few minutes and worked first time.
I was a little confused over which data.chk file to back , the only one needed is data.chk ( as it says) , but leave the ones with numbers.
I did back up my entire SD card to hard drive but there was no need .
Many thanks for this .
Mark
Note to eskie, gatso is fixed speed cams ( like the one max and paddy cut up ) mobiles are where the police hide in the back of van and specs are the cams that measure your speed over a large area or stretch of road ( never seen one of these) |

Thanks you guys.
One more question though:
Is the "pocketgps_uk_temp file" in the main folder equivalent to the "pocketgps_uk_gatso_TBA" file in the :gatso/speed zoned file? So does that mean it only has temporary GATSOs and no other devices (?) because there is also a "pocketgps_uk_mobile_TBA" in the :gatso/speed zoned file but there isn't a mobile.temp file in the main folder.
Should I be deleting the "pocketgps_uk_temp file" anyway if I just want to use all the files in the speed zoned file? |

I've just set up ALL the new full and zoned camera files in my TTG and have found some interesting effects.
Until they've been set to a distance and sound, the new zoned files don't appear in the scrollable list when you tap "Warn when near POI". I had to type in "p-o" which brings up the beginning of the pocketgps categories, and THEN when you scroll the list they appear without a sound icon, and you can set them up.
Also, the two new _TBA categories did not appear even then. I discovered that renaming them to "tba" - in other words changing from upper to lower case - made them appear in the "p-o" typed-in list. Seems TomTom Linux doesn't like capitals - which is funny as the map folder and file names have capitals in them...
I left the original files at 273 yards, and made all the zoned ones 100 yards, so I guess I'll get two warnings...

Hi Nazz
Temp cams are ones that are situated temporaly ( such as at roadworks)
TBA cams are any types of cams that have not yet had specific speed limits added For your last question I would say its a yes, just make sure that you have all the gatsocams in speed groups plus gatso tba, all the mobile cams in speed groups plus mobile tba, then 1 folder with specs and one red light folder and one POCKETGPS UK TEMP. I make this 15 in all, Personally I deleted all the old entries before adding the new ones as it can get confusing.
ZZ, you are right about them not appearing in the list straight away, this happened to me to but I didnt need to rename them to get them to work. I just scrolled around a few times , tried typing P then schrolled around a bit more, to be honest not exactly sure why they starting appearing but they did.
Anyone adding them don`t think they are not there if you cannot see them straightaway.
By the way, any experts out there on mpeg>dvd burning , different formats for files, nero6, divx, etc...if so an email to bestyman at yahoo. co.ukl would be really appreaciated..
Back on topic!! Once you guys have that sorted try using the new speed cam warning sounds, that should keep you amused for a little while longer.
Regards
